A Comedy Show With Mental Health Issues
Dai Davies and Dylan Jones present an informed, sincere insight into the highs and lows of bipolar disorder, and the challenges and rewards which come with a mental health condition. “Hilarious and entertaining” – Jokepit. “A pleasure to watch” – Wales Online
The Manics is a comedy show with mental health issues. Dai Davies and Dylan Jones ask “who is truly mad”? The Mental Health Team thinks it’s them. They think otherwise. They were outvoted.
The Manics is available as both a festival hour, comprising two twenty five minute stand up routines, or two forty five minute segments with a guest MC for a theatrical/club audience. It is simple to stage and for some smaller venues, can be self contained. It is above all a stand up comedy show, with the emphasis on laughter, rather than an educational experience. The show reflects Dylan and Dai’s own experiences of mental ill health and wellness.
A self-styled “Miserable Welsh Git”, Dylan Jones has been described as
A playful, subversive comic writer who’s assured delivery allows him to navigate the most treacherous topics. A strong, audience focused performer who’s daring style ensures that no two live events are the same while making sure that all of them are memorable.
He has appeared on television as a stand up several times, and has been seen on the stages of The Comedy Store, The Glee Club, Just the Tonic and Jongleurs.
